Default fiesta si tuning help me!!!

hi there
i have a 1995 ford fiesta 1.6 16v 90bhp its standard engine wise apart from a cat backexhaust, i have done a bit of research and know that the zetec engines suffer from poor induction and air flow, ive heard of people changing there airflow meters to the 2ltr airflow meters, and also changing the throttle bodies to the 2ltr throttle bodies, to make the engine more responsive will this make a diffrence or is it just a myth? , i also no that theres not alot of point spending massive amonts of money on the 1.6 and its best to do a engine overhall to gain more power, just wanted to no is there anything i could do to gain a bit more power out of this guttles engine apart from the usual mods like air filters, cams, four branchs throttle bodies, coz if was going to spend out on tuning i would rather do it to a 1800 or a 2ltr any suggestions wuld be appreciated.

If you fit a 2.0 litre MAF then the calibration with the ECU will be incorrect. You're more likely to lose power than gain it. The throttle body might get you a useful increase in peak power.

The 2L is the best. No replacement for displacement.

That depends if you source the 1.8 from an Escort or a Mondeo

If the latter then it's exactly the same amount of work..

Honestly not worth tuning the 1.6 at all.

You can pick up a 2L Zetec for £150 and then the same for bits and pieces, couple of mates and some tools and it will be done in a weekend. Have a look on FiestaTurbo there is lots of info on the swap.

Did it on my run about and was so much nicer to drive, well until it rotted to pieces
