All the bits for next years engine ( TOTB IV ) build are now comming together nicely ,

have the block ( one mondeo , and one focus )
Crank and flywheel
have Steel rods ,
Head needs a fettling from Karl
MBE management , ( quickest grand i ever spent )
T30 turbo with external wastegate
NOS on order



Now my attentions are being drawn to gear box and clutch issues ,

At the mo i have an uprated box of bernies , ( no lsd but i actually like it)

Im running 300 BHP approx and through a AP 4 paddle , Fine on the road and track but slips a little on the strip .

Me thinks this box aint gonna cut the mustard when it comes to 400+ and a 100 shot of nos



FOCUS RS box , what do we think these can take ????

and whats the best clutch , dont need anything " good in town " just one that aint gonna start crying when the peddle goes to the metal .

You will need a proper clutch, like a Tilton or AP multiplate unit.

its a clutch you wont be doing it once

 

to true ,

i may have a word with a friend of mine , he has been doing rally cross for years and his clutch actually locks out and thus zero slip , multi layer and a fancy ring gear configeration .

even if i have to have one made it may be stronger and cheeper in the long run .

Supposedly nooone has broken a stage 2 type BC box from bearnie!.

 

well i think i have a stage 1 box at the mo ,

seems to handle the power very well , but no lst wich i had fun with around donnington

Spoke to PF dave yesterday , got the feature sorted , going down to brunters , will be good to get some times on the current engine spec , to be fiar im having traction problems now let alone when the new engine goes in ,

A decent gear box will help but i have a load of traction and launch trickery built into the new management , will be needed with my fookin great clumsy right foot

also on the lookout for a set of coilovers , needs all setting up and corner weighting ,
