has anyone used a lumenition afr meter on a cosworth with standard sensor ,which is not hooked up to the ecu ,i have used it on cars which have got lambda in the ecu ,works fine

yes it would also work on a cossie. there is no difference in lambda sensors.

however, being a narrow band sensor, it's only use is for the ecu to maintain a lamda = 1 running condition under low load conditions.

a narrow band afr sensor / meter is no use whatsoever for tuning, particularly on a turbo engine where richer mixtres are needed on boost. these just cannot tell you accurately what the mixture is.
