Focus ST170 timing belt help
Hello all,
First post, so forgive me for not searching the archives.....
I've got my eye on a pristine 03 plate focus st170, with 73k on the clock, but the dealer cannot find any stamps to confirm the timing belt/chain has been changed.
Can anyone tell me whether this model uses a belt or chain?
If it is a timing belt, will this need doing straight away? (I was under the impression that most petrol cars need doing every 60k, but correct me if I'm wrong).
An answer to this either way will make the difference between me buying it or not, as I'm pretty sure a chain driven car never needs this work doing(having test-driven a couple already I really really want one!!), so I would greatly appreciate some input from any st170 owners out there.
Many thanks in advance,
N the G.

Great! Thanks for the swift reply, looks like I'll be bagging this one this weekend!
I was just being a little over-cautious, as the dealer has already said he wouldn't do a timing belt change as part of the price, and I was thinking it was well overdue - In this instance I'm more than glad to be proved wrong.
Thanks again for the help.
