Default S2 running hot

Hi. Got my car a few days ago but it seems to get hot very quick even though the temp gauge stays really low (pointing below the words normal). The car has been sitting in a garage for a year and apparently overheated a couple of weeks before i bought it because the header tank split. This was replaced along with the themostat.

No steam comes out and no water is being lost.No mayo anywhere but still runs quite hot.

What could it be?

Thinking of giving the engine oil a good flush and full service on the car as well as complete flush of coolant. Do you think this will be enuf?

I say it gets real hot coz i only done like 3 miles and you could feel the heat coming out of the vents and the engine just felt real hot for a car that only done a few miles.

Or is this normal?
