Default Fiesta RST wont start...

Hi there, were having problems tracing a fault in the Ignition system. I have checked continuity in all cabling from Coil pack to Ignition module and crank sensor wiring. The live feed from the second click to coil pack is also present. I have changed the coil pack and still no joy. My next port of call is the Crank/TDC sensor as i feel the pulses from the sensor to the module is missing so the pulses to the coil pack wont fire??? Is this correct? Makes sense in my head but unfortunately in a "MFI Guy" First EFI system ive worked on.

Now changed the Crankshaft sensor and still no spark!

Disconnected the alarm today aswell to remove the immobiliser just to find it was only cutting the supply to the starter solinoid!

Help!

CheeRS!

stick a multimeter onto the coilpack plug, you should have a permant live when on ign2 and a pulsed earth on each of the other two wires to trigger the coils when cranking (im meerly assuming that the system is same EDIS setup as on a zetec) still no joy then check your earth strap to the edis module as this will cut it out totally.

Funny you say this as the bracket for the EDIS unit isnt bolted to the chassis yet

We have live to central pin from ignition switch, didnt think the pulses would be long enough to see on a multi meter tho

is your edis module earthed aswell as the multi connector? as in there should be the multiconnector and an earth cable or a bolt holding it to part of the body thats earthed.

I hate using the word earthed as its wrong, so it should be ground(ed) but most people call it earth.

JAmes,

JAmes,
This is becoming more aware to me that the bracket which it is mounted on must be Ground'd. Unfortunately for us we have been testing it with the bracket loose as we were faultfinding/building the car. Thats deffo our next check to do. Got a fella coming round with a EDIS unit for us to try, you could always nip to Bellshill for a swatch

Cars now sparking, new problem is no fuel injection!!!

The EDIS4 unit was faulty and not firing! The plugs are dry, no voltage to injectors but fuel in the rail

Not tried that but looking at the schematics the fuel injection relay comes in then brings in the fuel pump relay from what i could make out. Never checked if it was switching tho
