Default Making up seat adapters

If you were to make up a plate to join a seat frame to runners, where the runners are wider and longer than the seat frame, what thickness metal would you be using ?

I am thinking along the lines of a plate to attach onto runners, with holes in the right place for the seat frame to bolt onto, maybe double thickness where the holes are for stiffness, etc...

Thanks
Greg
