hi just bought a mk4 escort xr3i efi. been running sweet done about 500 miles, then the problems started. there was a massive power loss felt as if the throttle cable broke (it hasnt) had my foot flat down and it wouldnt go over 3000 revs. it ran like that for about 10 seconds then cut out now it wont start. it turns over sweet and there is spark. which leads me the think its either the fuel pump relay or the fuel pump its self. when i turn the ignition on i cant hear the relay click and the fuel pump doesnt make a sound.

does any one know what colour relay it is? i have a yellow and a green one under the dash
or does anyone have any other ideas what it may be as the car is stuck at work at the mo and i would rather try and sort it out my self rather than pay for break down cover

Pink relay runs the fuel pump

 

on an efi escort?! though mfis were pink?! the yellow one under the dash is the fuel pump relay from memory as their different to mfi? you also have the power delay relay in the fuse box which is the big grey one!

 

thats correctomundo.... yellow for efi pink for mfi....

 

fuel cut off switch in the wheel well in the boot....needs to be pressed back down...
