Default temp prob still there

so the previous owner has completely bypassed the fan switch on the thermostat and just chopped the fan wires at the fan and ran them straight to a swithch in my dash however the temp sensor is on the head isnt it?sure its that push on one that goes next to the manifold but obviosly hwhen i push this on the temp readout on my dash shoots straight to the top so folks how on earth can i get a real temp readout cos im stumped ideally i want the fan switch to work as well but i will settle for just a temp readout so i know how hot its running
really need your help here people

its a little brass sensor with a plug on it next to the manifold as you said....just unscrew it from the head and screw a new one in,then refill header tank as you will lose some water.job done

assume your talking about a cosworth? - i had the exact same problem as you on the weekend; started the engine and the temp gauge was in the red

the temp sensor is at the fron of the head on exhasut side with a single wire connected to it.

take single wire off, you'll need 1/2 inch spanner to undo the sensor, refit a new one and job done, you will loose a little water so have the new one in your hand ready!

refill header tank if need be

PS the sensor is white from memory

reconnect wire....job done
