temp prob
hi guys
got an rs and the wire from the block the single push on wire was disconnected so i put this on and the needle went straight to the top.
wen i take it of i have no temp readout
i must point out that the fan switch has been taken of and replaced wit an in car switch but i need to know how hot my cars running any ideas folks?

The temp sender is dicky, need a new one.
The fact that the gauge goes to the top shows the gauge is working ok.
The FAN switch has nothing to do with the temperature gauge, I would get it sorted with a new fan(correct) switch.
What RS is it ?, it sounds like it had overheating probs in the past that someone tried to cover up to sell the car.

and i bought it lol
yea the head went a day after having it but is fixed now and this temp things doing my nut in.i think he bypassed the whole fan system and wired a switch to the fan and batterry and thats it

Easy to fix, just use the original wires if you can find them, if not wire in a seperate fan circuit, like cossie owners do, just need a SPST, relay, holder a bit of wire and crimps.
Most relays a re to DIN standard so will be marked thus,
87 = FANS
30 = LIVE(to relay from battery or ignition), depending on whether you want it able to run with ignition off or not, BEST from battery through fuse.
85 = NEGATIVE
86 = SWITCH, ie fan switch, so that one side of the fan switch has a(PERMANENT) live, then the other side of the fan switch(output) goes to 86 to switch it.
