Naturally Aspirated Cossie
Hello my name is dennis iam from Denmark and iam new on here. I drive a Dax Rush which is currently fitted with a Pinto engine. And this is where i could use your guys help.
I've been toying with ideas of lot of different engines to put in my Rush. But i think that i've decided that is has to be a cossie, both for the ease of fitting (same engine mounts as my pinto) and the exhaust exits on the same side. However i like the idea of running a naturally aspirated Cossie, maybe on ITB. The reason for this is that it would be a lot easier to get i through the periodic eu inspections here in denmark. And also it would be a lot more "classic" to look at if you get what i mean, and the sound of it, i imagine will be marvelous.
Anyways i've been looking into this a bit, and decided if i do this, i want something in between 200 and 250 bhp. For my pinto to reach 200 hp would be quite expensive, but what about the cossie? Can anybody give me a rough estimate on the price of building such an engine? And also which block would be best for this? A 200 or a 205? Could i mount the cossie head on a pinto block? Hope you can help me with some of the questions..

It is mostly for inspection purposes. As we have some very strict rules here in Denmark. I can't just drop in a Turbo engine, i won't be legal at least. And the cossie should be a relative straight swap from my current pinto, with same engine mounts and with the exhaust exiting on the same side. I also like the look of the cossie in N/A trim. It has a bit of BDA-esque look over it. And it think it has more of a classic character which in my opinion would suit the car better. I would appreciate some constructive input.

to run a yb motor n/a requires a very heavily ported and polished head which is very expensive
my pal has a n/a cossy mk2 escorton twin 48,s and it makes 205bhp and revs to 10000rpm
but has nice fat torque curve so pulls very well
you would be better transforming your std pinto engine to run the cosworth yb crank and rods ,thus increasing your rev limit and also being steel can handle more abuse .
this and some headwork on your pinto head along with a set of twin 45,s should see a strong 185 + bhp

forgot to add yes you can add a yb head to a std pinto bottom end 205
also in my opinion if you did go the cossy yb route 200 block would be overkill if you ask me a std 205 lump should cope with 400bhp all day long
only difference in 205 and 200 block is some extra webbing around the crank area as the 4wd needed the extra strength due to the higher force acting against it

As said because it is normally aspirated just use the block you have, it would be a lot cheaper to get the power out of your pinto than buy a cossie engine etc.
HT RACING(nr Brands Hatch) do these pinto's all the time, ROLAND HAYES, is the man there who is a genius with these heads and others, this amount of power does not need a cossie head to reach it.

I would use 3d management for the ignition, as it will be lights years better than other stuff.
