window wiper problem only 1 setting..?

Default window wiper problem only 1 setting..?
hello all.. i wondered if anyone has come accross this problem..?
its a 1.8 diesel escort and the wipers work only when switched onto the fastest setting and nothing on the medium and intermitten settings.. i have tried a new switch and is the same as before...
any help would be great...
