Recently purchased an R Reg Escort TDI 1.8, I have a problem with the revs just going crazy, it happened today while I was stationary at a roundabout, I set off as normal, then hey presto my revs shot up as high as possible, I had to turn the ignition off while i was in the line of traffic, started up first time after that so I moved on as normal, there was plenty of smoke when this happened but I should imagine this was normal as my possessed escort was redlining the rev counter, CAN SOMEONE PLEASE SHED SOME LIGHT ON THIS PROBLEM AS ONE DAY IT IS GOING TO CAUSE AN ACCIDENT.
