The 2.3 block found in the scorpio and galaxy has anti vibration shafts in the sump. so if you want to use this block you will have to have a one off downpipe fabricated to clear the sump or use the 2.0 sump taking out the anti vibration shafts out of the 2.3 buy then there is a big gap in the side of the cast from where the drive chain runs thru to the shafts so will have to get an ally block fabricated to bung the hole up. Also the head from the 2.0 will work with the 2.3 block but will have very high compression ratio so will need to run high octane fuel to stop any detanation. hope this is of use to you.

thanks for your your help, i was aware of the balancing shafts and plan to scrap them. i knew there was a gap near the sump and a hole that needs blocking on the top face of the block but just wondered if it mattered what year galaxy the block comes from. also im planning to use the galaxy block instead of the granny one, cheers guys for your input so far

No probs mate, both blocks from Galaxy and Scorpio are the same as both the holes for front wheel drive and rear wheel drive mounting possitions are cast in the block, just re-use the RS2K ones , As for the year thay all are the same so it don't matter, Go for the one with least miles
