Hi guys, I'm trying to get my car sorted.
Firstly its an RS2000 cabby. I've been told it has had rs2k suspension and brakes fitted. I have a siezed caliper.. now, is there any difference between RS2000 brakes and XR3i brakes... not sure which ones i need :s whether theres any size difference or fitting woes.
secondly, i have a very strange running problem, it runs lumpy as anything and jumps around all over the place, and i cannot seem to get it to idle. I've bought a brand new k&n 57i induction kit and a brand new idle speed control valve and it still will not idle. it makes a clicking noise when plugged in, but it still doesn't idle and jumps about.
so thats the idle valve renewed, new induction kit, and i've also tryed switching the lamda sensor plug things from the exhaust.
also on a run, every so often (like an hour) the car will loose power, and it won't rev, almost like the exhaust is blocked or something, you can rev it free if you persist and then its okay again.
Could it be something electrical. Is there some place that deals with mk5 rs2k's? I've spent a fortune trying to sort this car out, but i havent a clue what it could be, also being an engine conversion, i'm not sure whether its a prob with that.?
please please help a man in need!

its also worth mentioning when i first got it, it ran fine, and its lumpy until about 60mph then its okay
? i'm sure the lumpyness is related to the fact it dnt idle

I had a similar problem with my RS2000 years ago. It turned out to be that the twin lambda probes were plugged in the wrong way around. You could swap them over and see if that makes any difference.
As I recall XR3i 130 brakes are the same as the RS2000, but I am not 100% certain.

sounds like an air leak in the inlet tract to me. does the new intake part seal properly. did you disrupt the intake after a sensor? check for manifold leaks. What you describe sounds exactly like what I went through only to find a pinhead sized hole in the inlet manifold gasket under the inlet so I couldnt find it by eye.
good luck
