timing question flippin URGENT
Hi all....again.
Right im taking the head off my rs to do a camshaft change. Do I need to make sure the engine is in safe position i.e crank and cam lining up with block. I cant see and marks on the cam pulley and the crank is out of sight.
If I just mark a point on the cam pulley to a mark on the block wont that just be as good???
Need help asap
cheers

You cant just put any old mark anywhere mate it needs to be done properly and no you dont have to put the "engine in a safe position" you just time it up how you normally would once you put the head back on by making sure that both pulleys are at TDC.

The only way i can surgest then is bring the crank pulley round to tdc if its a blue pulley it will defo have a mark on it,then mark the cam pulley at the top then remove the belt, when you put belt back on turn engine over by hand first a few times to make sure your not locking up anywere,or just go get standard pulley with the mark already on.
