Default Intercooler spray operation

We have an intercooler spray on our new 2wd sapph. I know it's not really necessary at this time of the year, but I was fiddling with it to generally tidy up wiring, spray bar, etc... and wondered how long the water in the tank would last, so I switched it on until dry.

That lasted the whole of 3 minutes tops...

Question: Is it a gimmick ? 3 minutes of cooling doesn't look like much use to me... or, do you normally run these things in short blasts, the water that's left on the intercooler is enough to cool things down for a while ?

Thanks

you use them in short blasts, i had my spray linked to a temp sender on the intercooler via a relay, which cut in at a given temperature ,it only cut in for 5 seconds that was enough to cut the sender out and back to an acceptable temperature ,they do work

When did you have it? Bought it a few weeks ago from a chap of this board who lives in Berks too.
