My speedo keeps going back to 0 Mph whilst i'm still driving, seems to be on when i hit a bump. After a while it comes back to normal.

Any ideas on what this could be, how i can fix or how much it would cost at a garage

Probably VSS (Vehicle speed sensor) Not sure on prices.

Same thing happened on my focus, before trying VSS look under the bonnet. Theres a wire running past the left side of the battery over the coil pack. If it falls down and touches the coil it will stop the speedo, sounds to me like that's your problem. hope it helps.
