Default 2.0 Zetec into non injection Mk4 Escort - extra question....

I've been offered a 2.0 Zetec silvertop with a 1.6 inlet manifold. The waterpump, oil pump, sump and pickup changed to Escort parts and a Mk6 Escort loom. (it was fitted to a MK6 Escort)

My plan would be to run it on standard management and spec in my Estate daily driver replacing the carbed 1400 CVH for a boost in power whilst still giving about the same economy.

So what am I likely to come up against?

Engine mount mods needed?

Any issues with the loom?

Any clearance problems?

Which clutch to use with an S2 box? Would a standard clutch and flywheel assembly from a 2.0 be OK?

Which fuel system to use and which fuel line connections to use? (I was
thinking any XR/RS tank and pump and original metal fuel lines, but any other ideas welcome too).

Anything else I should think of?

you need a 1.6 or 1,8 zetec flywheel, then use a rs turbo clutch,

the fuel rain on the 1.6 inlet has quick release fuel connections, im not 100% but i think late xr3i mk4 have these to (the efi ones) so use efi tank and lines.

clearence probs, no, but you need to use the 1.6 zetec alternator, and probly the zorst manifold to for ease, then a custom or fiesta down pipe.

Cheers, sounds good.

Sourcing a MK4 EFi tank and fuel pipe setup might be tricky though....
Would any of the standard carb fuel line setup be usuable?
Or could I get any new bits off the shelf that would be ideally suited to mating up to whatever Zetec inlet is used (don't have to stick with the 1.6 one just as its coming with that).

Also exhaust manifold and downpipe....
I know Ashley do one for the Fiesta, but does anyone do anything for this conversion? Or would any mix of standard parts fit?

I bought a brand new EFI fuel tank for my mk4 escort and it cost Ł50 +VAT.
The fuel pump was 2nd hand so I dont know how much a new would cost.
I fitted new copper fuel lines then connected them to the efi plastic lines and fuel filter in the engine bay. I am running a zetec in my mk4 escort and ive got a cvh alternator with the zetec pulley fitted. I also drilled and tapped the head to accept the escort cvh exhaust manifold as its less work and expense.
Mine is a turbo though so ive got it running frst ofac managment with beige injectors etc but for yours I would just run the standard blue injectors and run it on the mk4 escort xr3i EFI loom and ecu.

Cool.

What copper fuel lines did you use? Just universal copper pipe shaped to fit?

Good shout with the retapping the head idea, could be the easiest route, give me the option of all the off the shelf exhausts, good to keep things simple.

Not so sure about using the XR3i EFi ECU, can't imagine it would be running at its best as that ECU would be used to running a 1.6 8v, instead of a 2.0 16v.... Would think it would need remapped to suit which would be more hassle than working out the Zetec ECU and wiring loom probably....

I forgot to mention you need mod the CVH rear mount to fit the zetec block, but its easy to do especially if you handy with a welder. I could have shown you the pictures of how and where you cut weld etc but my pc has gone on the blink and im having to use the missus laptop for now

I cant remember the exact size but I just bought standard copper fuel line if that makes sense.
I used the frst inlet and fitted an adapter plate to mate it it to the zetec head.
You also need the zetec water hose that goes onto the zetec water pump as they are a bigger diameter to the original cvh.

Viewed the engine I'll be getting today and another issue came up....

Throttle cable?
Totally different type on the Zetec... so what's best to use, or is this hassle enough to make it worthwhile using a CVH EFi inlet and spacer plate?

If so who does the spacer plates?

Dont use the 1.6 inlet, find an RS1800 one or any inlet from a 130 bhp rated 1.8. The 1.6 inlet has tiny ports, the RS1800 isn't much better but still worth the effort.
