Default modding xr4i 3door

hi, im going to be getting my hands on a 3door xr4i soon as a new toy. I am planning to make it look as much as a cosworth as possible for starters.

what i wanted to know is, the rer windows are in 2 sections, is there anyway, or any company that can make them in to 1 piece windows like the cossy models???

where can i get fibreglass skirts and a front bumper from?? had a browse but cant see any.

the xr4i's have the plastic door mouldings which lead to the arches and skirts, can they be taken off (obviously to leave rivet holes) and be covered up with a rs skirt kit?

thanx all

You can get genuine stuff at reasonable proces and it'll fit properly
As for your back windows, leave 'em as they are there's not many about now, Hows about a merkur xr4ti rep?

Btw, if you do chop the c pillar out, i've got some 3 door glass for sale

The windows can be done easy if you can weld/fabricate.
The cossie 3 door has a thin bump strip along the door etc and it looks roughly in the same place as the rivets so should cover up nicely.

the standard engine is by no means slow but i wouldn't bother tuning it, just drop a 2.9 24v in

As said 4i is drum on rear, but I have brackets to convert if you like to disc on rear, there are two types of rear caliper for discs either for vented ones or non vented ones, both take 273mm discs, 2wd cossie has 273 solid whereas 4x4 cossie are vented.
xr4x4 rear discs are 256mm, 4i drums are 228mm, but a LOT wider than std drums.
2.8 engine is crap, restricted ultimately by the siamese exhaust ports.
I had one rebuilt the engine, with modded cam, and modded heads, with DRY FUEL INSERTS, it was still slow, my previous 2.1 pinto AUTOMATIC was way way faster, and better on the rolling road as well.
It depends on how far you want to go, if I had to choose again it is a no brainer I would take out the v6 ans shove a tuned pinto in there.
Or failing that a 4litre V8 TVR crossbolt like I did!!, to my dads car for him, 240lbft at 1800rpm, but 190lbft at 1000rpm!!
I had mine on LPG, MUCH MUCH quicker, than a std one and went much better on lpg than it did on petrol as well

It will go in easy.
WARNING DO NOT USE THE XR4i PROPSHAFT.
The prop joints WILL explode, they are NOT CJ13 joints but MUCH weaker ones.
Myself and my dad had a prop made to fit his 4iV8 and it twisted the prop like a chew, just before SNAPPING IT CLEAN IN HALF!!
