Default Escort cabriolet roof

Hiya everyone hows it going?
Ive just bought a Mk4 Escort cabi and it needs a new roof fitting, how hard would it be to change the roof myself?
I havnt really looked at it but i should imagine it cant be too difficult really, has anyone got any tips on how to do it?
Cheers Shaun.

I'm in the same boat mate, EVERYONE i've spoken to about it has advised me to get someone else to do it. Absolute ball ache of a job apparently.
There's usually a bloke in the back of the autotrader who can suppley and fit a new roof for under Ł250

Hi mate,
Iv managed to get a mint roof for Ł70 so im well happy about that but iv never even looked at one before so havnt got a clue what i would need to do to fit it, i'm not your normal diy mechanic to be fair and would normaly take anything on but was kind of hoping that someone on here would be able to give a few tips and pointers.
I hope its a simple enough job anyhow as im on a very limited budget.

make sure u hav a good cuple hours spare as me an my pops changed his n it was def time consumin, we hadnt dun 1 b4. u might aswel get a new tention cable as ford stil do them for about Ł12, so cut old one n thats best way to start. cant remember wot order we did evrythin, we had to take out rear panels nx i think. but basically take time, figure it out as u go and put bak together thr reverse order u took it apart(obvious advice sorry, its not over dificult but fiddly), then spend saved cash on beer for u n whoeva helps.

I have done loads of these. It takes about an hour to do (roof swap with frame)
Make sure you get a new roof tensioning cable from Fords. Ł8.00 + vat.

I know it is kinda old topic, but I thought maybe someone could help me out.
Does somebody know how to actually do it? I mean, maybe there is some figures and something like that, cause I cant find any service guides about cabriolet roofs and so.
