Default Ford orion 1600e rs turbo conversion help

Hi peeps,

i'm carrying out a rs turbo conversion on my orion 1600e and wanted to know what the best way to do the conversion would be.

Basiclly the 1600e has extras i.e fuel computer interior lights on the gearstick console that i want to work aswell.

If i put my s2 loom in i was originally going to join it up along the drivers side sill.

However i was thinking is there no way of leaving the original 1600e loom in and just fitting the engine management side of the rs turbo s2 wiring?

In 2 minds on how to go about it now. But as said i want everything working as its a special edition model.

cheeRS in advance folks

Definately leave the original loom in. Just take the engine management loom from a S2. It needs to be separated from the main loom.

Personally of course I would never even bother with the MFI and just make a new additional loom for some programmable EFI system.

so basiclly all the engine bay wiring loom that plugs around the engines sensors and runs off to the main ecus, just follow the wires back to the fuse box or wherever they go and seperate them, correct?

Will i need to remove wiring from the fusebox aswell?

only ask because the s2 rs turbo injection relay and wiring is the same as the orion 1.6injection models.

Just wanted to fing out the best place/s to splice it together

cheers again mate

ive got one that i stripped to put in an xr2 but never got round to it its a s1 loom tho

you can actually trace all the wires back through the fuse box and use your excisting (spelling) fuel pump loom

i'm going to be using my s2 turbo loom as its more user friendly and its alot easier to get replacement fuel pump relays aswell.

sounds like i'm gonna have to sit down with the loom and take it apart slowly, lol so its seperated properly

wont take longer fella just seperate it all as if it was in the car and then you can see which wires you will have to remove

wen i disconnect the wiring from the fuse box of the rs turbo, will i need to re fit alot of the wiring and main fuses back into the original 1600e fuse box?

seperating the turbo loom are there loads of wires or a small amount example 10 wires or something.

cheers

A lot of the engine loom wires go in and out of the fuse box, but very few actually connect to anything inside the fuse box if any.

when u say don't actually connect, do u mean there will be loose wires not connected to anything in the fuse box aswell?
at least i know before hand, otherwise i'll be thinking i've accidently pulled them out, lol
