My mate just finished his engine with T4 Bd15 eccc and used an AP 6 paddle clutch but it seems that is not up to the job so I wondered what U guys use for this kind of power? Thanks

alcon 6 padle in mine has been fine for over 10 thousand miles

So are these alcon paddle clutches better than the AP ones?

Think they are both about the same mate..

make sure when fitted that you run the full AP/Alcon cover and plate etc..

Yeah sure, The thing is that the pressure plate was not AP I think! It was another ripoff from some guy but we fitted a helix pressure plate with the ap 6 paddle and seems that is fine for now, we see tomorrow on the drag strip. thanks for the help mate.

Personally I would go twin plate with a hydrualic conversion.... Speak to Reyland Motorsport, they will sort you out, did me a good deal. I will only be running 400ish BHP but want reliability and a lightish clutch

yeah that will be the most best thing to do. Another mate of mine is running a Mc leod twin plate 7.25" sintered clutch on 4wd esc 550bhp and he says that the gears go easy as you got everything standard. Now we can prepare a flywheel to get ready for the sintered clutch and a single plate conversion will be enough for the 2wd! But for now will keep running with the 6 paddle as today it went ok!

Do you really feel a speed difference in gearing when using a twin plates clutch over a single plate or is it just £££ ? I don't think we need the lastest tenth of a seconds, but I wanted to know if it is really shortening the gear changes.

In reality a single plate clutch will change gears faster couse it's lighter but when going to more power than a twin is needed to hold the power!!
