Default 2.0 16v Si-Help needed

right this is doing my head in now

since day one of my 2.0 conversion my car's rev's hunt. i was told to replace the plugs and leads.

i replaced the plugs and leads for standard ford ones, i think replaced my iscv with a fairly clean second hand one, i also replaced the tps while i as there

the other day my car would run,but as soon as the rev's dropped it would cut out,i replaced the lambda sensor and the car started idling oki replaced the maf while i was at it

i then disconnected the water temp sensor that sends signals to the ecu and the car idles ok and the rev's stopped hunting

i replaced the water temp sensor(new one) today and the car still does it Confused , when i disconnect it ,it seems to idle ok but smells very rich

the battery has been off since 10.30am this morning and was reconnected at 5.30pm, so the ecu was reset

i dont know what else to try or to check

i couldn't feel any vacum leaks, a few weeks ago the breather hose under the coil pack was replaced

but it does sound like a "tuff tuff" noise coming from the engine when i switch it off, but not a clue where its coming from as it only me, and i can hear it when i am by the drivers seat

Do you have the correct ECU for the engine? Are all the sensors the correct sensors for the ECU?

hi alex

it could be, as i was talking to someone and they said that they didn't think the 1.6 TPS of the SI would work with a 2.0 throttle body

when my conversion was done a friend( or so called friend) did the inlet side while i was reconnecting read hoses etc. and i think he used the 1.6 TPS

i have a 2.0 TPS at home i will try that

Very strange. I think you need to check your look over very carefully checking for chaffed wires, dirty conections etc. Continuity check all the sensor wire and volt drop each sensor and so on.

took it to a friend yesterday, hooked it up to thier diagnostic machine and it picked up my EGR which it would as i removed it

and it picked up that i am running lean at my lambda, so i am having my timing checked this week and going to hook it back up and see what it says

it seems to have stoppped hunting now and idles a little bit better

i think thr guy who did my inlet used the wrong gaskets, think he used the 2.0 inlet gasket with my rs1800 inlet so those will be getting replaced asap

so in short i am getting there slowly

just did my GF's 2.0 conversiob this weekend

http://www.fiesta-si.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=8668

its runs sweet as a nut , so i'd best pull my finger out and get mine sorted
