hi,thinking of re-shelling my rs16i,trouble is cant find a decent shell.what panels would i need to change on a mk4 escort apart from front panel and wings,doors,bonnet and boot to make it look the same,cheers.

why change the doors ?

 

cause the door clips on teh mk4 doors are different and the panels dont stay on

 

i didnt realise the doors were the same, is the scuttle panel a big job to change

 

You're talking front panel, wings, scuttle, bonnet, cross member is different aswell but you could probably get away with that.

rear panel also. Then theres things like the door strikes are completely different on the Mk4's, and that would not be easy to change, so it all depends in whether the visual appearance of things like that matter to you or not - i know it would bug me personally

 

Not worth the work imo mate you would be better off getting a "half decent" mk3 shell and spending some money on that or restoring your shell would be the best thing to do if you can.

 

thanks for the advice,think i'll bin that idea.definatley needs a re-shell though,mine's to far gone to save,i'll get looking again for a mk3.
