Use a bigger hammer, or a two legged puller pusher.
I have never had to use a puller/pusher yet, always came out with me 6lb club hammer, I put a(air) socket on the nut then screw it most of the way down leaving about 10mm thread exposed, then long extension on the socket so you can get a proper whack, never failed me yet.

Thanks guys, maybe im just being to gentle with it.. One of those jobs whereby a bigger hammer obviously makes all the difference

no need to be gentle....it needs a really good whack just to loosen it initially...then it taps out fairly easily
