Mk4 Escort front suspension
Guys help
i have a problem with the front suspension on my orion that ive never encountered before and its driving me nuts to the point that i want to get rid of the car.
i have changed the bottom arms, discs, wheel bearings, shockers, shock top mount bearings and nuts. it is fully poly bushed with outer tca's antirollbar and shocker top mounts.
here lies the problems there is play when you pull on the top of the wheels or the front sides of the wheels ( like a bearing has gone or something is massively loose.)
it isnt the wheel bearings because if you put the foot brake on it doesnt change.
if you jack the car up to get the wheel of the ground it goes away, if you turn the steering so that it has a bit if tension in it it goes away.
but if you pull on the shocker it feels like the top mount is loose but i have bollocked it up tight time after time but the play is still there.
does anyone have an ideas or had a similer experanice?
Thanks
Dave

i have changed the bearings with new ford ones and couldnt see any difference with the old and used new nuts. but problem still there.
has anyone ever felt the need to change the metal cone that sits against the rubber insulator to the body?
