Plz Help tapping noise in engine?

rite driving down my road today and my car cuts out. after a quite load tapping noise started the does not start after and when you tick it ove the noise starts any ideas as wot thins could b?

what engine is it? where does the tapping sound like its comin from, the tappets or lower down.
