Default Ford focus over-revving

Hey everyone, I have a 2001 Ford focus 1.8i Zetec, its a lovely car but if im ploding along at say 50 and put me foot down, it over revvs for say 2-3 secs then goes fine, seems that whatever gear I am in and put me foot down it does this. The bittng point is there from standing starts and the power seems to be there its just this over-revving thats worrying me abit. Has anyone got any ideas what it might be?

As said if the revs rise but not the speed it is clutch related not engine.
