Default ST170 Brakes

Hi have a 2001 1.8 LX Focus and was thinking about fitting ST170 brakes to the front of it but I am unsure if the wheels will house the brakes because the ST brakes are a lot bigger than my stock brakes I am still running the stock 15" LX wheels from the Mk1.5 focus, I am not really wanting to replace the wheels if i can as i want to keep the stock sleeper look as it has a few mods to the motor that has 180bhp and is very underbraked. I know what items are needed for the conversion but not sure about the wheels if a pic of the wheels are required one can be posted ok.

Thankyou for your time replies would be greatly appreciated

Cheers.

It's a pity that you don't know someone with one(st170) that you could try your wheel on.
Failing that, I don't see that they are going to fit, most 15" have 335mm or thereabouts clearance(inside), ST170 = 300 discs plus caliper, so it's not going to.
What about the cossie route ?, four pots and 283mm discs.

Ford use pretty much the same dimension lug mount wise for the brakes on their hubs, I would be surprised if they, cossie 4 pots did not go straight on.

You have to use 16" wheels with ST170 brakes. That's why it gets that funky orange alloy for the spacesaver spare. Even then some will not have sufficient clearance.

As you know, the standard knuckles have to be changed usually as they, for some reason, do not follow normal Ford lug design, but the ST170 does. Whilst it has the standard calliper lug dimensions, albeit with M12 bolts, the offsets are different.

This can be illustrated, for example, by the need to use 10mm (?) spacers when using ST170 discs and callipers (or Mondeo Mk3 callipers) on an Escort knuckle. Going the other way onto a ST170 knuckle with another Ford calliper might be difficult.
