Motorsport tyres, for sprint XR2.
Hi guys
Right, I know there have been loads of threads on tyre sizes and types, but I'm struggling to find what I need from doing a search.
Basically, I want a good tyre which can be used both wet and dry for sprints/hillclimbs, that is cost effective and that is fantastic for grip.
What I really need advice on though, is what size to use-do I go for 185/65/13s like I have on at the moment, or do I go for something different-I don't want to significantly affect gearing or upset handling.
I have considered Toyo R888s but am told they are awful in the wet. Anything else to look at?
I need to order some asap for my next event, so any help appreciated,
Cheers
Paul

I know M3's use them at Snetterton ok, and they seem very happy with them.
I use them myself on road cars, ace tyre for the money, about £35 fitted etc each so can't complain, last well too.
Dad's mondy has just gone from F1 GSD3 to T1R as the goodys both developed bulges(there's a surprise!!) and it is way better on them.

Are you looking for a competition style tyre ?
Do your rules / championship allow it ?
Road tyres and there counterpart trackday tyres are truly crap for any form of classed competition.
If your looking to take it seriously then get 1 set for wet days and 1 set for dry days and dont be looking for a set to do everything.
Need to know more before I can offer help
