january 93 escort cosworth when the car warms up and you go over half a throttle the car starts missing and back fires realy bad exspecialy in first gear any help appreciated

Check your gaps, plugs,phase,CPS first then look carefully at leads or just get a decent set if not already.

I would run 0.6mm plug gaps.
PHASE sensor gap is 0.2-0.3mm in dizzy, Crank position sensor gap is 0.6-1.0mm.

ps Iam not overly familiar with the escys but if 93 is that FORD EEC or is it Weber ?

i disconnected the amal valve and it has stopped back fireing but it is still missing badley performance of car has dropped power and now and again on tickover you rev the car and it blows out a little blue smoke
also could you please put feeler gauge sizes into inch for me
