hi i have an rst s2 that wont start as i turn it over over it starts for a few seconds then dies any body have any ideas cheers paul.

 

Hi,Sounds like your fuel pump isn't working.Get someone to listen to the fuel tank when you try to start the engine.You should here the pump if it is working.If its not it will more than lightely be the big pink relay in the fuse box.

i have put a new fuel pump on recently i dont have a pink relay in my fuse box what other colour could it be

 

Can u here the pump working when trying to start the engine?

yes u can here it prime when the ignition is turned on.

 

But can u here it when cranking the engine?

yea it stays on while cranking

 

All I can think of whithout being with the car,is either the fuel filter is blocked thus only giving a bit of fuel allowing the engine to run for a bit,Or the fuel pressure is very low.When changing fuel pumps the pressure needs to be set at the regulater.

i have put a new fuel filter how do u reset the regulater cheers paul.

 

You need a friend who is in the trade.To adjust the fuel pressure a fuel pressure gauge is required.Again I am only guessing.I've run out of suggestions now. sorry mate.

Mate the pink relay is under the dash, not in the fusebox, or have i just read it wrong

 

i have put a new fuel relay still wont stay runnin dies after a few seconds.

 

could it be a slight air leak from one of the hoses? have you got a dump valve fitted? does it run if you rev it up? Can you keep it running by pouring fuel down the metering head (not too much! unless you like fires!)

were there any other problems before this started happening?

 

carnt c any air leaks checked all of them it started to run lumpy for a couple of days then just stopped and wont start again no matter how much i put my foot on the gas. its been like it now for a couple of weeks and its baffling me dnt matter what i try just dont wanna go.

 

wanna sell it
