Default Phase sensor connections. Sierra Cosworth.

Hi, I have ordered a replacment phase sensor - I took the old one out of the distributor because the wires had no insulation on and one had snapped.

I have two wires going to the plug.
Is important that they are connected the right way round?

Can I damage it I connect it wrong?

can anyone tell me the connections?

Cheers Alan (Sunderland)

The new phase sensor will have 1 x red wire, 1 x blue wire.
If you look carefully at the plug in the side of the dizzy you will see the + marking which is where the RED wire goes to think from memory it is on the left as you look down on it with the plug nearest you.
Yes it does matter which way, not it will not work or damage the ecu the wrong way.

ok, I have changed the phase sensor. The car starts but cuts out after about 5 minutes at idle.

I have a group A coil fitted.

I have changed the ignition sensor. Changed the phase sensor. Put a new dizzy cap and rotor arm on.

A mate said there is a sensor on the crank that controls the spark, he said it could be that.

Any ideas where I go from here?

Or how to check if it's this crank sensor.

Cheers everone.
