Default Longer 5th gear

Read somewhere that someone has fitted longer 4th and 5th gears into there Cossy Box..............I understand this will help on a run....does anyone have any views on this and who carried out this modification...sounds like a good idea for 5th, but not sure about 4th.. Thanks 'Wilmot' (Liege-Belgium)

This would entail a complete input and output shaft change.
It is possible to use different gears if they exist, like for the US spec box.
Having looked through the TTC book, I can see none listed.

I have this subject on Ford-Force and Viper replied....4th I'm not sure about, but on the MT75 the standard 5th gear is 0.83:1, and the Scorpio diesels and late (97,98) 2.3s had a 0.75:1 5th gear ratio which helps top speed and cruising revs. You'll need to dismantle the box totally, have the original gear taken off and the new one pressed on, then rebuilt. Only give it a go if you have the know-how!
