24v Sierra Keeps cutting out when stopping
Sierra Saph with a 2.9 24V Granda Scorpio engine and a type 9 G/Box.
It keeps cutting out, someone has told me that a mt75 is needed and that the problem is there is no speed sensor on the type9.
I can;t remember where but i read something about a cable speed sensor.
Can anyone suggest whats needed to alleviate the problem whilst sticking with the type9 box?
Cheers

If a speed sensor or lack caused it to cut out, I would assume it would also cause it to cut out all the time.
Has it just started or any other symptoms ?, if al you need is to register a speed input there is a hell of a lot eaier way to do it than change the box!!
Some ecu do use a speed signal but this merely raises the revs when coasting, to around 1300/1500 for smooth gearchanges, but does not elliminate your base idle which should keep it going when coasting.
Does it tick over ok ?

It's not my car, its a good friends. It ticks over fine, it's only when slowing down at traffic lights etc that it cuts out. If you rev it just at the right time you can keep it running
If it was ok before the problem then it could be a high idle switch(as it's called).
To check drive at say 25mph and let it coast, high idle swicth if working will do just that say high idle.
If you arer saying it is a conversion one that does not have a switch but the original ecu used one then yes it needs one, easy to fit on the prop with magnets and pickup, they merely sense movement and output a digital signal ie on off, as magnets pass the sensor, and so cause disturbance to magnetic field created.
