Default Fuel tank (esc mk4 cab)

A friend of mine has a 1986 MK4 Escort Cabriolet NON Injection. He needs a new fuel tank as his is leaking and want to know if a standard escort fuel tank will fit?

He says he cant buy them anymore from Ford and no one lists non genuine ones!?!?

Thanks for any help!

Any tank out of a carbed car will fit!

Is that a Mk3 or Mk4 cab? Rare to come by carbed ones!

Yea they are about, very rare though! They are 1.6 Ghia cabriolets, VERY rare as they have the Ghia trim, not XR

No I haven't but used a lot of sapphy cos stuff(don't ask!!).
I have used wings,bonnet,slam panel,grille, front crossmember,rear arches,sills, to name a few!!
The fit on these was excellent, even when I tell people that the wings have been changed etc they do not beleive me, the paint match helps though as it is 100% perfect.
Hadrian buy up a lot of old PRESSING machinary from oe suppliers to ford etc so they are done on the same machines as ford used, but obviously the machines are a bit worn!!, still ace fit though.
The man who did my bodywork employs someone on the side who is an assesor for NU!!, ace old style panel beater, who reshaoed my two inner wings to perfection, and these are the ONLY panels he uses, choosing these over oe ones!!.
The garage do a lot of front half rear half cars all unstithched at oringinal weld points, and all have RAC/AA inspection before being sold as well as MOT/SVA etc, no problems are ever found that are worrying to the AA/RAC who express surprise over car when told about the history.
