Default charging probs

iv got a series 2 rs turbo,iv changed the alternator twice,the battery twice and still its not charging.iv put my multimeter on the red wire on the back or the alternator and its only showing 10volts,iv cleaned the main battery earth lead aswell.the car is my daily driver aswell so need it to be running to get to work.

does your battery light light up when you put key in position 2.

You could've blown the battery light bulb,

Or more common, is the thin blue wire from your alternator to you speedo head gets very hot and brittle and can break. Normaly along the fron anti-roll bar somewhrere near the black connector.

no the battery light doesnt come on , can that stop it chargeing then.

yeah it can.

When I say ign position 2 i meant ign on but engine not running.

That's where you need to start.

If the battery light doesnt come on check the thin blue wire running to the alternator, common to break!
