Default boosting

if your car is running low on petorl would this cause it not to boost as i have just filled it up and its going like mad as i have only had the car for a few weeks i have been putting in a fiver or a tenner. whan i brought the car the lad said the petorl guage did not work and putting five or ten pound in is not going to take it out the red antway as it was just not moving at all but i have just filled the tank and its boosing a lot better now but the turbo guage is still not moving much at all only going to 0.4 can anyone help me please

depends what car you have and what fuel pump? if it is an uprated one mine and a few of my mates have uprated fuel pumps and wont let you boot it with less than 1/4 of a tank they still boost but dets and backfires so would advise keeping the petrol topped above that just a suggestion probably not what the problem is but its worth a try

Shouldnt make that much difference, if its a low fuel issue you will hear the pump whine as air enters.

the quickest simplest answer mate is that its possible it never gets filled up. this will cause the fuel tank to deteriorate quicker and little bits of crap might be getting caught in the filter. the tank one! however when you fill it right up the filter is probably completely immersed in fuel so it has more little holes or a cleaner section of filter material to suck the fuel through.

The gauges are more accurate in the lower half of the section, which is understadable!

£10 usually reads about half a tank but obviously is just less than a quarter.......being a 47L tank!

Is the car consistently better with more fuel in?

yeh, i mean nealy to the top of the guage not nearly to the top of the tank. also, try using ultimate fuel if u dnt already, mine doesnt like normal petrol atall. n if the boost guage isnt working proply check the pipe goin 2 it make sure it isnt split or anything
