Default not firing properly when cold?

On my 2wd Saff, when it first starts in the morning (daily driver) it seems as though its only running on 3, the revs jump up and down a bit, then after a couple of minutes all is good. Sounds tappety too. Any ideas?
Its coilpacked and running an MSD Evo 2 chip. Need to get it sorted before it gets any worse!
Ta in advance for any help.

ISCV, this controls not only idle but all off boost up until around 1800rpm or thereabouts, clean it, then spray liberously with silicone polish/spray.
