could some one help waht is the best way to test pisston rings with out taking the engine apart i dont mind taking apart but would rather be sure what my smoking is about wheather its turbo or rings it smokes very lightly but noticbel from cold and hot it not bad but its ther and from the breather pipe thers a bit of presuer if you put your hand over it if any one can help if thats normall for the breather pipe should have a littel pressure and when you rev it the pressure increases

buy a compression tester from halfords (about 15 sheets) ditch off the main coil lead and screw it in to each pot, where the spark plug would go with the other spark plugs out so you give it good spiin over on the starter - this should give a reading that you can compare with in any data book, its listed in the haynes i think aslo. they should all be roughly the same.

i done a compresion test but it will only telly me my comprsion wich is good but what if the oil control ring is fucked it wount show up

true, you could could get an endoscope (or take it somewhere that has one) to check the bores down the plug holes - they will be discoloured quite badly if the oil ring is broke or stuck in.

one possible way to check if its the turbo is look in the pipe from the turbo to the intercooler to see if its oily, also look inside the cooler to check for oil stains - although it could be leaking into the exhaust manifold end which is harder to spot

right let me put this strate if it was pisston rings would it smoke all the time or in satges coz this is continuess but only littly but like i said out of the breather pipe a littel pressuer and smoke it gets wores when you rev it from the breather pipe but does no get any worse from exshust piep
