As said defo make sure at least outside is lubed with oil, may as well do cam seals while there ?
They do not have oil in them when new so will pump up normal way when engine starts.

The new tappets i have r made by the british gaskets group i got them months ago. The only reason why im changing them is cause when i first start the car its quiet but give it about 2to 3 minutes n they start tapping. im using castrol rs oil 10/60.Its not cause of the oil is it.

That's what mine does Then it goes away again, right?

It's better after having the filter done though. Also have a new set of tappets, might even get round to fitting them one day! The actual removal procedure's in the Workshop Manual - have you got a copy?

A lot do it on castrol rs, that is why I stopped using it.
Tappets seriously easy to do but long job, cam pulleys off, cams out etc so might as well do cam seals at same time, make sure you use VITON ones as they need to be this because of heat.
I am doing this shortly, as head off.
You can remove the cams without disturbing pulleys but there is a little metal tiny bracket behind each one which can bend, woodruf key also needs pulling to do seals from both cams.

Well i might just buy some new oil n try that.I thought it might of been the oil cause normaly when tappets r worn they normally rattle when u first start the engine n then the oil gets in the tappets n the noise goes away.

It will be perfectly ok, just a tad noisier on start but with new tappets unlikely to notice anyway.
