Just went to fit a pair of M3 mirrors that i got from Ebay to my S2 Cabby and noticed that the pin config is different, standard mirrors have 5 pins and the M3 has only 4 pins!
Also a different connector, but thats no bother i'll just chop it off, but does anyone know how to wire these up or maybe a diagram/explanation of how the standard mirrors are wired?

M3 ones are easy there is 2 wires for up/down and 2 wires for left/right, i'm guessing that the polarity is reversed depending on which way you move the mirror joystick.

Thats the same way the MK4 mirrors work they have a motor for each direction.

Have a look in the haynes its got a wiring diagram in there.

 

So whats the 5th wire for?

 

The M3 mirrors probably aren't heated, where as your existing ones are.

And i think the heated mirrors are really useful in this cold weather.....

 

 

yeah your right they were for the heated mirrors, the actual motors only use 3 out of the 5 wires!
Side to side is working now but not up and down, proper confusing!

 

As i said it takes 4 wires to get all directions..............
