Default Door Locks

Out of interest, would the locks from a Mk5 fit a Mk4?

I know they use the same style of keys, its just I can get some off a mate for a good price as I REALLY need some

Just want to know if I can use them or not

thanks

compare the shaft of the key, im sure they are the same style.

The MK5 keys have chips inside though, which won't affect you.

yeah they are the same style as my keys, their the rounded type exactly the same as my mates keys to his Mk5

Well looks like im going to have to check, I need to sort summin as I cant lock or unlock from the drivers side, and im fed up with having 1 key for doors and ignition, and another for the fuel and boot lock!!!

And it would be good to be able to lock my car from my door instead of having to jump across the passenger seat lol!

So, what do you mean they can be "Modded" to fit? Is it alot of agro or easy?

ok, agro there, seems like to do that job it will need patience, something I was never blessed with lol!

Well, looks like its a trip to the scrappies and pay more than I could of got the Mk5 ones for, doh!

Ah well....I am sure it wont be long till they die and I have to replace them again lol!

Silverlakes want ÂŁ47 for the lot, and Harris's only want ÂŁ20 for the lot, so not that bad aslong as their good condition, but my mate wanted less than that

(Thought I would mention the scrappies for you who lives in the same area as me, yey im not a loner lol)

They never used to be much new from Ford.

Years ago my dad put a brand new set in my mums Orion. Sure it was only about Ł50 for a full set with keys?!

Still got the old set in the shed thinking about it

It seems that way with everything Ford, my mate works for renault and he can get anything for his R5 GTT, and even if theres none in the UK, it gets specially made in france and shipped over...........

And its all reasonably priced aswell, brand new bumpers for Ł40 i think he said!!

So, are they all dubasses then?

I wouldnt know as I have only ever had 1 ford that was a bad mistake, RS Turbo that had so many hidden gremlins....Had it a month and it was 1 thing after another kept going wrong!

Im only used to having Jap cars really, started off with a Suzuki Swift, and my other toy at the moment is a Mk3 Honda CRX but its dead at the moment, maybe you may of seen either of them around

To be honest, something has just clicked that I may actually know you already Ant
