Hi i have a S2 escort turbo and i took the head off one day to change the head gasket on it and found that the pistons have play in them all 4 of them, should there be play in them or should they be solid as i put my plam on top of the piston i can feel them pushing left to right slightly.

the pistons should be able to move slightly in the cylinders!

try putting parafin down the bores if it drains away it needs looking at
