TOLD YOU SO

Thats well gutting mate

Have you ACTUALLY done the compression test now - the reason i say that, is oil in the exhaust port could be caused by other things.

How much did you pay for the FRST bottom end just out of interest.

Wouldn't really know what to say, if you can get the old one out the FRST one will fit straight back in.

Get yourself a Haynes is probably the best thing i can say.

fuck sake i can never find cheap bottom ends. I agree though, a second hand bottom end could be as bad/worse than yours.

And i was going to advise dropping the engine and box, i duno how the fuck people refit engines with the box in situ, i always struggle enough to get the box lined up in the clutch plate spline when re-fitting with the engine dropped

Dont say that !! Ive got the engine already sitting in my living room and the gear box sitting in the car already to go back together.

Seriously though I dont know how people do it (without damaging shit anyway), theres not that much space for manouvre in the bay and i just generally consider lining input shaft splines up quite tricky

take the bottom pulley off this gives you a bit more room and the fit the engine in at an angle i always leave the inlet on and fit the turbo after

this is how i do all my cvh engines piece of cake with a bit of swearing involved lol
also put a jack under the g/b to help you tilt it or raise it

ps take the bonnet off it helps to get things round the back and gives you more room

Yer its the swearin bit and everything else involved with it that makes it annoying

I'd much rather drop the box out with it i think

if u use a proper engine lift then its really easy with the box in place.
I use a block & tackle attatched to an rsj
