Some people use the 4x4 oil pump and pick-up pipe with a 2wd sump, but if it's history is unknown, now will be the time to get yourself a new 2wd pump and pipe. Don't forget that when fitting the 2wd sump, you'll also need a 2wd dipstick and tube, as they are different to 4x4. Have a look on ebay for Graham Goode (used ID = RS500_2) for prices.
I believe that the 2wd sump will require modification to clear the engine crosmember. The front face of the bowl needs to be moved backwards an inch or so - you'll need someone else to confirm this distance.
The Escort pinto engine mounts will fit to the cossie block, but you'll need to make up a new gearbox mount for the T5 box.
I think the T25 is good for about 300 brake.

A standard cossie lump will eat a type 9 box.
You need T5, but make sure it's cossie one as there are different ones, ie TVR mustang etc.
A mexico sump will fit off a pinto but does not have an oil drain tube so you will need to weld one in, must be large tube to de-airate oil/foam returning from turbo.

Hi, I have just spent the last 18 months putting together a cossy powered Anglia 105e. I started with the mexico sump and had an oil return put in it and made my owm bracket ( a pain to get the spacing right!). The only problem is the amount of oil it holds (not enough!) On long trips the oil was getting to hot, as there not much room for cooling in an Anglia. I then had a 2wd sump modified and bat wings put on it, I also fitted an oil cooler in the inner wing, but was informed I needed an up rated oil pump, only after I put it all back together. Got hold of an up rated oil pump, now I have good oil pressure and temperature. I had to modify the crossmeber slightly, not sure how much on an Escort though. I have moved my air filter to the inner wing as it was only taking in hot air under the bonnet. Where do you live? As I could recommend some of the companies I used to get the alloy welding done. You can also try http://www.oldskoolford.co.uk there are a lot of cosy escorts on there.
Hope this helps.

How are yu getting on with the car..?
I'm also building a mk1 with a cssy engine, but I'm a but stumped on where to mount the header tank, I have a cosworth tank and it seems a bit bulky and an awkward shape...
any pics..?
Also I used a world cup cross member to clear the 2wd sump ..
