Default mk3 escort PROBLEM

hi i have a mk3 escort 3 door estate which has a mk3 1.6 fiesta sport cvh engine in her and a mk5 escort gear linkage. i just put a gearbox from a mk5 escort 1.4 cvh ito it and the drivers side driveshaft is too short by around an inch.
should i get a driveshaft from a mk5 or what ? ? ? ?

Is it a three bolt strut top or a single bolt strut top? What year is it?

The three bolt four speed cars had a drive shaft about an inch longer than the later cars. Is the end of the B5 box almost touching the inner wing on the passenger side? If it is then the driveshaft is right but the engine mounts are wrong. Fit the right mounts and it will move the engine an inch closer to the drivers side...
