Default reverse lights

hi all, have no idea why, but my reverse lights are always on!! so ive just took the bulbs out, thing is wen i put the bulbs in theres a wierd smell in the boot area. any ideas?? cheers

Chances are you have a dirty connection casuign a permannet earth either on the multiplug or the buld holders.

have you checked the reverse light switch on the gearbox?

hi all, ive asked at a ford dealers aswel, he said may be a sticky reverse light switch, how do i check on a 1.8 zetec model, is it underneath the gearstick assembly?? cheers

did ya not belive me then

the reverse light switch is at the front of the gearbox.
this is my FRST engine and gearbox but it will be in the same place on your gearbox

see blue arrow
