Default Please clue me up

I would like to be educated on engine coolant.

At them moment I have a fez 1.25 zetec, and only have water & anti-freeze for engine coolant.

I was told that it would be better to use the Ford red coloured engine coolant for better results and performance.

What do you guys use? are there any good products out there specially made for this purpose?.

any advise or help is great.

cheers.

Nigel

Ford will reccomend their own engine coolant. However, as long as you use good quality coolant and the proper mixture you will be fine.

I tend to use the cheaper stuff and have had no problems, even when I lived in the north of Scotland.

PS Coolant is antifreeze, anti-freeze is coolant (in the UK).

Cheers for the advice guys, helped a lot.

Alvyn, my fez has been very good so far, have had it 7months and it has not drunk a drop of oil, I done a oil change when I first got it and since then I have not had to top it up.

thanks again.

thought you shouldn't mix the orangy / red with the blue tho, it's either one or the other, think ford changed to red in late 98 / 99. halfords red antifreeze melted the plastic sight glass in my pro alloy header tank.
